I have a UNIX server and I have a $ prompt on my screen.  How do I get out of this?

Press the CTRL key and hold it down and press the letter D key.  This will take you to a login.

I have a UNIX system and am trying to do my daily backup.  It keeps telling me to enter another extent.  I use 8 Gig dat tapes.  Why is it doing this?

You have chosen the wrong media type.  It sounds like you have chosen 3 1/2 floppy in stead of tape.  You will have to press the Alt key and hold it down while pressing either the F1 or F2 key to go to an alternate screen.  From here you can shut the system down and bring it back up and try your back up again.

At the end of my backup it asks for Storage Location?  What is this?

It is asking for the location where you store your backups.
